END OF LIFE

CARE

At Red River Animal Emergency Hospital & Referral Center (RRAEH), we understand that the difficult decision to say goodbye to your beloved pet is one of the most painful choices an owner can make. Our team strives to provide compassionate end-of-life services and aftercare any time of day through our Emergency Department.

The word “euthanasia” is derived from the Greek word “Euthanatos” – meaning “good death.” Our staff aims to provide a peaceful, dignified, and comfortable passing for each pet when their time comes. The respectful and gentle staff of our hospital will ensure that both your pet and your family are taken care of during this emotional time.

Our team understands that there may be many questions surrounding the process of end-of-life care, you can rest assured that our professional staff will be by your side, offering consolation and understanding throughout the entire process. The knowledgeable staff at RRAEH will walk you through the available aftercare and keepsake options to honor your pet. Our hospital works closely with local companies to offer cremation services, such as Pet Services and Companion Animal Cremation of North Dakota – both of which provide additional urn and keepsake options through their respective companies to memorialize your pet.

*pick-up of your pet’s remains from RRAEH by a service other than PetServices must be coordinated with their respective businesses’ representatives prior to end-of-life care at our hospital

In-Home End-of-Life Services:

While RRAEH does not offer in-home end-of-life services, we highly recommend Paws of Serenity for owners wishing to pursue this option in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Owners may visit the Paws of Serenity website to find additional information about their services offered, as well as request an appointment for in-home euthanasia.
