Inspiring Story

Pablo

Pablo’s emergency came without warning.

One evening, his family noticed that the usually spunky pup wasn’t acting like himself. He was lethargic, trembling, unwilling to move, and his gums had become pale. Knowing something was seriously wrong, they rushed him to Red River Animal Emergency Hospital.

When Pablo arrived, our team quickly discovered that he had critically low blood pressure and signs of internal bleeding. After overnight stabilization and an abdominal ultrasound the following morning, the cause was identified: Pablo’s spleen had twisted, a rare but life-threatening condition that required emergency surgery.

Before surgery could safely proceed, Pablo needed two blood transfusions to replace the blood he had lost. Once stabilized, he underwent surgery to remove the affected spleen.

Thankfully, Pablo’s procedure went smoothly, and his recovery was remarkable. Within days, he was already showing signs of improvement, and today he’s back to roughhousing with his canine sister and supervising dinner preparations in the kitchen.

His family will forever be grateful to the veterinary team and blood donors who helped save his life and gave Pablo the opportunity to continue being the happy, spirited dog they know and love.
