Pawsitive Care Story

Bentley

Meet Bentley, a one-year-old Standard Poodle mix with a heart as big as his curls. One February evening, Bentley took a tumble down the stairs after getting tangled in his leash. His family rushed him to Red River Animal Emergency Hospital & Referral Center, where X-rays revealed a severe fracture of his left femur — an injury that required complex surgical repair.

Despite the sudden trauma, Bentley’s spirit never faltered. Thanks to our skilled surgical team and the compassionate support of donors to the Pawsitive Care Fund, Bentley was approved for financial assistance that covered a large portion of his life-saving procedure. Over the next several weeks, Bentley underwent an open reduction and internal stabilization surgery with bone plates, screws, and wires, followed by a long and careful recovery involving pain management, crate rest, and rehabilitation therapy.

Eight weeks later, Bentley returned for his recheck appointment with a wagging tail and a bright, happy bark. His radiographs showed strong bone healing, and though he is still regaining muscle strength, he’s back to doing what he loves most!

Bentley’s story is a testament to how community generosity transforms lives. The Pawsitive Care Fund exists to ensure that families facing unexpected emergencies don’t have to choose between financial hardship and their pet’s health.

Because of Pawsitive Care Fund, Bentley runs again.
